Welcome back for some weekend maps.
Earlier this week I learned a huge amount about the mapping industry from the IMIA Mapping Leaders Forum.
All the talks were wonderful and very insightful. And it revealed to me how much bigger the consumer mapping industry is than I expected.
One of the most practical aspects of which is how important customisation is to map related products (MapSherpa’s Founder Dave McIlhagga, gave a talk about this and it was also a common topic that came up several times with other attendees).
After the talk I had a look and Amazon lists over 3,000 custom map products!
And here a just a few of the other types of unique map related products available outside of Amazon.
The UK’s Ordnance Survey offers custom paper and canvas maps of the UK.
Stanfords offers the biggest range of custom paper maps from Aeronautical Charts to UK Roads.
Personalised Map Jigsaw Puzzles (from All Jigsaw Puzzles) which is such a cool gift idea.
Splash Maps - Personalised, washable, (and wearable) fabric maps.
